LA MONTAÑA ~ ORGANIC COFFEE FROM COLOMBIA

Introducing our new season Colombian variety, La Montaña, hailing from the beautiful region of La Unión, Nariño. We love this region for their organic coffee! 

Grown between altitudes of 1500-2200 masl the Castillo and, Colombia varieties are picked during the day and depulped in the afternoon. These coffees are generally washed two or three times before being dried. 

The farmers of this coffee are part of a foundation, Fundación Agraria y Ambiental Para el Desarrollo Sostentible (FUDAM), a 300-member association of organic-certified (and Rainforest Alliance–certified) growers that was founded in the year 2000 by producers who shared a vision of sustainable agriculture as well as environmental protection and development.

FUDAM's members believe firmly in the principles of sustainability that drove them to band together in the first place. When asked recently why the group continues to farm organically despite mounting pressure to rely on chemical inputs, the association’s leadership explained, “This is just how we live, these are our values and our way of life.”

The tasting notes you can appreciate in La Montaña, a washed, Fair Trade and Organic coffee, are hints of jammy apricot, cocao, berries, rounded with a clean finish.
